10.3. my generation…and yours…and yours…

Today is a day for all generations to celebrate, today is Intergeneration Day.

The goal of Intergeneration Day is to connect generations through communication, celebration, and education. As creating an age-integrated community leads to a healthy community, where the strengths of one generation meet the needs of another.

So take some time today to call your parents, your grandparents, your grandchildren — anything that will connect different generations.

Here are some other ways to celebrate:

• Hold a neighborhood block party

• Hold a community-wide event such as a carnival, musical event, lecture, seminar, craft fair or art show.

• Head up a volunteer event to revitalize your neighborhood park or playground.

• Visit a senior center.

• Make a scrapbook celebrating the different generations of your family.

• Take a look at your family tree.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you take a second (preferably more) to appreciate other generations today!
